Making the most of life
A slight change this month as I have something personal to share with you. Sadly last week I lost a dear friend, and as you can imagine this brought up many thoughts and feelings, but it's also been a reminder to make the most of now, as life can be too short. I hope you'll find something to think about in these reflections:
Enjoy the moment. I often talk about being present in the moment, being mindful, and paying attention. Our lives are so busy, we are often thinking of the next thing we have to do, missing out on being fully present in where we are now. Let's make an effort to pay more attention and experience fully every moment. Yes, set goals, plan for the future, but enjoy now too.
Appreciate the simple things. I spent a few days thinking about my friend's fiance, almost feeling guilty that I was still able to spend time with my husband doing everyday things, (going to the supermarket, having lunch together, watching TV). It's a good reminder to appreciate the time you can spend with the people who matter.
Give yourself permission to do whatever you want. Seriously, live your life as fully as you can, and fill your days with the things you want to do. It doesn't have to be some kind of adventurous bucket list, simple pleasures are just as important. Just do whatever makes you happy.
I suppose what I'm saying is love your life, everyday. Can you make this commitment to yourself?
